Acidic soil: first response before changing pH

A careful starting point for acidic soil: identify what is actually happening before adding amendments blindly.

Symptoms

Certain crops struggle, moss or indicator plants may appear, and fertility work seems to give uneven results.

Likely causes

Underlying geology, rainfall, organic matter patterns, leaching, or crop choice that does not fit the site.

Fix pattern

Test before amending, choose tolerant crops where sensible, build organic matter, and change pH only where there is a clear reason.

This is starter content for the rebuild. It should be expanded with real Live With Nature field notes, photographs, and verified examples before launch.
